Lessonpal Referral Program
Role: Product designer
Timeline: 8 weeks
Tools: Figma, Adobe XD
Company: Lessonpal
We wanted to introduce a referral program on Lessonpal to boost user growth and engagement.
As a product designer on this project, my goal was to create a simple and attractive referral program that made it easy and rewarding for our users to invite their friends to the platform. I focused on designing user-friendly interfaces and enticing incentives to make the whole process smooth and enjoyable.
1. Getting Started - Competitor Analysis & Wireframes
Given the time crunch on this project, I decided to spend a couple of hours analyzing competitor referral programs as part of my research. I aimed to identify best practices for referral landing pages.
Analyzing both direct and indirect competitors, I noticed a pattern in their referral landing pages that worked well for them. They all had a hero unit with a clear incentive and various sharing/inviting options, how it works, a referrals tracking section, and in many cases, frequently asked questions.
After hand-sketching some options for the Lessonpal referrals landing page, I put together some wireframes in Figma keeping these best practices in mind.
2. Documenting the User Flows
My team and I were in alignment on the direction we wanted to go in for the referrals landing page. But it didn't end there. There were many different flows and use cases that could happen for both the referrer and the referee. It was important to document the different flows in the referral process before kicking off the designs.
3. Designs
I worked on many iterations of the designs after going back and forth with the engineering, product management and customer success teams.
When the final iterations were ready, I shipped the designs to final delivery for development handoff.
